Roadway - Transit Enhancements Collins Road (Old Middleburg Road to Rampart Road)

Description

This project is designed to reconstruct Collins Road between Old Middleburg Road and Rampart Road to four lanes with raised medians, bike lanes, closed drainage system and sidewalks.  

Status

Final inspection of the segment from Old Middleburg Road to Shindler Drive was held on March 15, 2021 and closeout documents were sent to the City on July 15, 2021.

The contractor continued working on the final phase of widening from Shindler Drive to Rampart Road and completed subgrade preparation utility construction.

The contractor has begun placing curbs and construction of the median.

Due to groundwater issues that have led to the re-work in the previous phase and the results of the groundwater monitoring, the contractor will be utilizing an asphaltic base in lieu of limerock base for the final phase of widening.

Collins Road will have improved roadway capacity, reduced congestion and safer driving conditions when the project is completed.
