Roadway Girvin Rd

Description

Reconstruct existing roadway to five lanes between Atlantic Boulevard and Ashley Melisse and three lanes between Ashley Melisse and McCormick.  Includes curb and gutter, sidewalks and bike lanes.

Status

The first major phase of maintenance-of-traffic (MOT) was established in April 2017 and will allow for construction of the first half of the roadway by December 2017.  A subsequent major MOT will be established in January 2018 and construction is expected to be completed by the summer of 2018.

Benefits

The new roadway will increase traffic capacity, decrease congestion and add dedicated bike lanes.

  • Girvin Road Lane Closure

    October 31, 2016 - November 30, 2016 On Monday, October 31, JTA will be replacing a water main along Girvin Road. The contractor will close the sidewalk on the east side of the road (opposite side of Home Depot) from Atlantic to Ashley Melisse. The west sidewalk will remain open. Pedestrian detours in compliance with FDOT standards will be in place. The work will take place through the end of November.
  • Girvin Road Lane Closures

    August 29, 2016 - September 01, 2016 There may be temporary road closures on northbound Girvin Road between Joeandy and Ashley Melisse after 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 29  through Thursday, September 1 for tree removal. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic and ensure safety of all motorists and pedestrians. Please drive with caution. Note: weather and progress of the crew may alter the closing times.
  • Girvin Road Traffic Shift

    October 18, 2017 - December 31, 2017 A traffic shift will take place at Girvin Road and Singleton Street, shifting traffic from the existing pavement onto our temporary pavement section and will run north ending at Wonderwood Drive.  This shift is anticipated to remain in place through December of 2017.
